Counseling Updates 8/25/25

Dear CHS Families,

We hope that everyone is transitioning well to the new school year, especially our Freshmen class!

Kindly note that if you/your student made a schedule change request, they would have been contacted by their counselor by today.  Adjustments to schedules may still occur due to athletic changes and/or the balancing of classes.  We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding.

Senior 411s
All 12th grade students met individually with their counselors last week to review their transcript and discuss their graduation status and post-graduation plans.  If your student was absent and/or did not meet with their counselor, please know that Ms. Gonzalez Moreno (Last names A-El), Ms. Gomez (Last names En-Lic), Ms. Buzenes (Last names Lid-Rob) and Mr. Ross (Last names Roc-Z) will be conducting make-up meetings within the next week or so.  If you have any questions regarding your/your student's graduation status, please reach out to your/your student's counselor directly.

New Dual Enrollment Opportunity via CSULB
In addition to the dual enrollment courses that we offer each semester through Cerritos College, 11th and 12th grade students also have the opportunity to take Introduction to Racial and Ethnic Studies through CSULB this Fall:

Grade Level Assemblies
The Counseling Team will be holding Grade Level Assemblies starting on Friday.  We will review graduation and "A-G" requirements, as well as share grade-specific recommendations of what students can be doing to prepare for college and post-graduation.  All students will attend their respective grade level presentation through their English class.
Kindly note that similar information was presented to parents during our parent informational nights held the week before school started.  If you were not able to attend these meetings, you can find recordings and/or slides from the presentations here.

Thank you,
Your CHS Counseling Team
