Dr. Cindy Gutierrez (Counselor for students with last name A-C)

Dr. Gutierrez started her educational career in Long Beach Unified as a teacher, counselor, and activities specialist.  Her previous position was at the Orange County Department of Education, where she was the AVID Coordinator for 8 districts.  She has earned her Bachelors of Arts, Masters in Education, and Doctorate in Education, which were all from UCLA.  (Go Bruins)!  She has also earned a Masters in School Counseling from the University of LaVerne.  She is very excited to be at Cerritos High School, where she enjoys working students and their parents.  Her goal is for all students to have the tools necessary to be successful, and have a plan for after high school graduation.  When not at work she enjoys spending time with her daughter, and is very familiar with Disneyland, Knotts' Berry Farm, and Aquarium of Pacific!

Rocio Gomez (Counselor for last names D-I)

She is a first generation college student and proud AVID product. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Cal State Long Beach. During her undergrad, she studied a summer abroad at Universidad de Salamanca in Spain says that it has been one of the best experiences of her life. She received her Master's in School Counseling from Cal State Dominguez Hills.  Recently, She also completed a Master's Degree in Educational Administration at Cal State Long Beach. GO BEACH! She has been a counselor since 2014 and began at CHS in 2017. She is proud to be part of a school focused on preparing students for college and career success, the kind of school where she belongs.

Dr. Jenifer Mai (Dean, Counselor for students with last name J-L, College and Career Advisor)

Mrs. Mai is a proud product of the ABCUSD. She graduated from Cerritos High School, where she was an active participant in the Dance Drill Team and ASB. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Masters of Art degree in Education from UCLA. She also received her Doctorate in Educational Leadership degree from CSULB. Mrs. Mai spent eight spectacular years teaching high school chemistry before working at the district office overseeing college and career readiness programs before becoming a counselor at CHS in 2015.

Megan Kelemen (Counselor for students with last name M-Q)

Mrs. Kelemen loves being a counselor at Cerritos High School! She is happy to be back in the ABC family, as she first started out as a substitute teacher and then completed her counseling internship at several different schools in the district before becoming a counselor at CHS in 2016. She attended Cal State Long Beach for her undergrad and completed her Master’s in Counseling with embedded Pupil Personnel Services credential at the University of Redlands. Mrs. Kelemen is passionate about serving her students and loves being an integral part of their academic journey towards success… while having fun along the way! When Mrs. Kelemen isn’t at CHS, you can find her spending time with family and friends, reading, BBQ’ing or planning her next adventure …which would include anywhere by a beach.

TreAna Marbrey (Counselor for students with last name R-V)

Mrs. Marbrey is a product of the ABC Unified School District and the Cerritos community. She attended UCR for her undergraduate studies, in which she ran track on a full scholarship all four years. Her Master’s of Science in Counseling was obtained at CSULB in addition to earning a Pupil Personnel Services credential. She has a strong commitment to the excellence of students and their academic success is important to her. She loves serving the students of Cerritos High School and making a difference in their lives. You can also check Ms. Marbrey out on the track as she is now the CHS Track & Field Sprint Coach.

James Baek (Counselor for students with last name W-Z, Dean)

Mr. Baek first entered CHS as a counseling intern in 2007.  He is also the product of the local community and is proud to serve all the stakeholders of CHS to best support our school's mission.  His first job was as an after-school academy tutor in Cerritos as a sophomore in high school.  He continued to work in this field with students and parents throughout his undergraduate education at University of California, Irvine where he earned his degree of bachelor of arts in International Studies with a minor in education.  Then, he completed his Masters of Science in Counseling at California State University, Long beach in addition to earning a Pupil Personnel Services credential as he discovered that it was his calling to advocate for students and their family.  Recently being promoted to Dean of students, he will strive to further support the needs of all students in new ways.  He is now busy spending all of his free time with his wife and two toddler sons.  Still, he will make time to "school" any ballers who is brave enough to challenge him in 1 vs 1 basketball!
